22-year-old singer-songwriter, Gracie Abrams, will be touring in 2022 from February to March all over the United States and Canada.
Recently, Abrams has been doing live performances for the first time after the pandemic shutdowns forced the singer and her team to adapt.
They created a six-date virtual tour for her debut album, Minor, which began on July, 20th. The performances were streamed from her bedroom.
“Being on tour has taught me a lot about the reception of my music because selfishly it is a way to best cope with how I am feeling,” Abrams said. “I just hope people feel like it’s a space where they can also be honest and vulnerable with the way that they’re feeling. Having recently been playing in rooms where there are actual people that are responding to the songs and lyrics it’s been massively inspiring.”
Abrams said performing on live has pushed her to be more vulnerable with her songwriting. She went on to explain that this vulnerability is what gives her the strength to be an artist.
“It is the vulnerability and the writing that makes me feel like I can do this every day for the rest of my life, as long as people will have me,” Abrams said. “I can’t imagine writing a song that was dishonest.”
The artist's previous album, Minor, was focused on her relationship.
“It was a project about my relationship to somebody else and I think the music I have been writing more recently has been for sure much more of a self-reflection and about my relationship to myself which has been an interesting journey,” Abrams said.
The singer went on to explain that Minor is a product of where she was exactly at that time in her life, going through her first breakup. She said she cannot imagine any other way to write her music.
“If I’m living through anything it’s what I’m going to be writing about. I want it to come out when it’s still real for me,” Abrams said.
